Exploring the world of

Theory, methodology and development of miniaturized analytical separation methods including microcolumn liquid chromatography, capillary liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis and electrochromatography and 2D electrophoresis. Main topics involve miniaturization of instrumentation including column technology, detection (photometric, fluorometric, mass spectrometry), electrolyte optimization and development of standards for electrophoresis and isoelectric focusing.

Projects

Current projects

  • Divergent flow IEF
  • IEF of low-molecular-mass colored pI markers
  • IEF in acidic pH
  • Dynamic modification of proteins and microorgnisms in capillary electromigration separations with UV and fluorometric detection
  • Laser induced fluorescence detection utilizing liquid core waveguides
  • Automatization of electroseparation methods, especially CE, CEC and CIEF.
  • Column technology for CEC (packed, monolithic, sol-gel).
  • Fused silica coating modifications for electrophoretic separations of unicellular organisms.
  • Detection for electroseparation methods (LIF, MS).
